Overview
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, launched in 2019, provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible landholding farmer families through Direct Benefit Transfer in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. This flagship scheme supports over 14 crore beneficiaries, disbursing ₹3.2 lakh crore by 2026.
The scheme targets small and marginal farmers but excludes higher-income groups, institutional landholders, and government employees. Funds are transferred directly to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts after mandatory eKYC verification. Farmers can check installment status and register via the official portal, ensuring transparency and eliminating middlemen. By 2026, 98% coverage achieved across all states with real-time grievance redressal.
Who is Eligible?
- Landholding farmer families (land in own/spouse/joint name)
- Small and marginal farmers primary beneficiaries
- Excludes families with MPs/MLAs
- Excludes pensioners drawing >₹10,000/month
- Excludes income tax payers/professionals
- Excludes institutional land holders
Documents Required
- Aadhaar Card (mandatory for eKYC)
- Land ownership records (7/12, Khatauni, Khasra)
- Bank account passbook with IFSC
- Land records from state revenue department
- Self-declaration for exclusions
Process & Guidelines
Step 1: Register at pmkisan.gov.in using Aadhaar/mobile number
Step 2: Complete mandatory eKYC via OTP/biometric/CSC centers
Step 3: Verify land records through state integration
Step 4: Receive first installment after verification (15-30 days)
Step 5: Auto-credit of ₹2,000 every 4 months
Step 6: Check status anytime via "Know Your Status"
