How to Find & Claim Unclaimed Bank Deposits Online (UDGAM)
Complete step-by-step guide to using the RBI UDGAM portal to search for forgotten bank accounts, lost fixed deposits, and unclaimed money across 30+ Indian banks at once. Learn how to search safely and claim your rightful money.
Overview
Who is Eligible?
- Any Indian citizen can register on the portal
- You can search for your own name or the name of your family members/relatives
Documents Required
- Name of the Account Holder
- At least one of the following: PAN Number, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Passport Number, or Date of Birth.
Process & Guidelines
Step 1: Register on the UDGAM Portal
Visit udgam.rbi.org.in. Click on "Register". Enter your mobile number, your first name, and your last name. Create a strong password and enter the captcha.
Step 2: Verify Your Mobile Number
You will receive an OTP on your mobile. Enter the OTP to successfully activate your UDGAM account.
Step 3: Log In to Your Account
Go back to the homepage and log in using your registered mobile number and the password you just created. You will receive another OTP to securely enter the dashboard.
Step 4: Enter Search Details
Enter the exact name of the person whose money you are trying to find. Select the bank you want to search (or simply select "All Banks" to search everywhere at once).
Step 5: Provide One Search Criteria
To prove you aren't just searching random names, you must provide at least one specific detail about that person. Enter their PAN number, Voter ID, Driving license, or exact Date of Birth.
Step 6: Hit Search and View Results
Click the "Search" button. The portal will instantly scan the databases of 30+ banks. If it finds a match, it will display the Bank Name, the Branch Address, and the masked Account Number.
Step 7: Claim the Money at the Bank
Note down the details. Visit that specific bank branch with your KYC documents (and death certificate/legal heir certificate if claiming for a deceased relative) to withdraw the funds.
Status Tracking:
Not required for the search. Track your actual refund claim directly with the specific bank branch where you applied.
