Who is Eligible?

  • Indian citizens ≥18 years (born before 1st Jan 2008 for 2026)
  • Ordinary resident (stay 6+ months)
  • Not declared unsound mind/convicted criminal
  • NRI eligible (Form 6A)

Documents Required

  • Self-attestation copies + originals:
  • Age Proof: Aadhaar, Birth certificate, 10th marksheet, Passport
  • Address Proof: Aadhaar, Bank passbook, Ration card, Driving licence
  • Identity: Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID family member
  • Photo: Recent passport size (or captured at VPC)

Process & Guidelines

Step 1: Register/Login NVSP

Visit https://voters.eci.gov.in → New User? Register → Mobile/Email OTP → Create profile

Step 2: Select Service

Dashboard → "New Voter Registration (Form 6)" OR "Voter Correction (Form 8)" → Fill details

Step 3: Fill Application Form

Personal info → Address → Contact → Constituency auto-maps → Parent/spouse details → Declaration

Step 4: Upload Documents

Scan upload: Age proof, address proof, photo (4x6cm), signature → Max 5MB total

Step 5: Reference Number

Submit → Get Reference Number (eg. WBH/XX/00123/01) → Save/print

Step 6: BLO Field Verification

Booth Level Officer visits → Verifies documents → Neighbour confirmation → Form submission

Step 7: Photo & Biometrics

SMS Voter Photo Centre (VPC) appointment → Visit VPC → Photo + iris scan + signature

Step 8: EPIC Generation

DEO approves → EPIC number allotted → Physical card + e-EPIC dispatch

Step 9: Download e-EPIC

voters.eci.gov.in → Login → "Download e-EPIC" → Enter EPIC/Reference → PDF with QR code

Modifications (Form 8):

Same process → Select "Apply for Correction" → Upload proof of change

NRI Application (Form 6A):

Passport copy → Indian address → NRI declaration → Embassy verification
