CEIR / Sanchar Saathi Portal (Find Stolen Phone)

Overview

Losing a smartphone is a nightmare, not just because of the cost, but because of the personal data, banking apps, and photos inside. The CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal is a powerful tool by the Department of Telecommunications. When you report your phone as stolen here, the government blocks your phone's IMEI number across all networks in India. This means even if the thief throws away your SIM and puts in a new one, the phone will show "No Service" and become a useless plastic brick. The moment they try to use it, the system automatically pings the local police with the phone's exact live location. Pro Tips for a Seamless Experience: * You must file a police complaint (e-FIR) online first. You cannot block the phone on the CEIR portal without an FIR copy and the FIR number. Keep your phone's original bill box handy. You will need the 15-digit IMEI number printed on the sticker of the box. Do not panic if you recover the phone later. You can easily "Unblock" it on the same website using your request ID, and it will start working normally again within 24 hours. Processing Timeline: Phone Blocking: Within 24 hours of form submission Location Alert: Instant (sent to police when a new SIM is inserted) Common Rejection Reasons: Uploading an unclear or fake FIR copy Entering the wrong IMEI number The mobile number provided for OTP is not in the owner's name
