Overview
☀️ PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
This central government scheme is designed to provide free electricity to households by helping them install solar panels on their roofs. The government provides a massive direct subsidy to reduce the installation cost:
🔋 1 kW system: ₹30,000
🔋 2 kW system: ₹60,000
🔋 3 kW or higher: Maximum subsidy capped at ₹78,000
✌️ Pro Tips for Instant Approval
📝 Match Your Details: Make sure the electricity bill is in the exact same name as the applicant and the bank account holder. Mismatched names are the #1 reason for delay.
🛑 Wait for Approval: Do not start any installation work before getting your "Feasibility Approval" online.
✅ Use Official Vendors: Always choose a vendor from the officially registered list on the portal to ensure your subsidy doesn't get blocked.
⏳ Processing Timeline
⏱️ Feasibility Approval: 1 to 3 working days after registration.
🛠️ Installation Time: Depends on the vendor (usually 7 to 15 days).
🔍 Inspection & Net Metering: 7 to 10 days post-installation.
💸 Subsidy Credited: Within 30 days of submitting the commissioning report.
❌ Common Rejection Reasons
📛 The electricity bill name does not match the bank account name.
🏢 The roof belongs to a commercial property (this scheme is strictly for residential properties).
🏦 The bank account is not Aadhaar-seeded or prevalidated.
👷 The applicant used an unregistered local vendor.
